Christmas Shopping for your Wife!

Most men do not enjoy Christmas shopping or any kind of shopping at all. Which is why even they if they love their wives dearly the thought of looking for Christmas gifts for their wives seems like a daunting task. Well, men, there’s no need to fear. This article will offer some tips for gift ideas the ladies will surely love!

If you’re not too keen on shopping for a gift for your wife, why not make one? A scrapbook is a great idea for a Christmas gift for her especially if she is always complaining about never having time to organize the family photos. Now, don’t be scared by this idea. You don’t need to be an artist to do this. All you need are some of your wife’s favorite photos, an album and some stickers. Fortunately, if this is still trouble for you, there are many individuals in the business of making scrapbooks. All you have to do is give the photos to the scrapbook consultant tell him or her what type of book you want to give your wife.

A spa gift certificate is another excellent idea for men who find Christmas shopping to be difficult. Most women enjoy being pampered with treatments such as manicures, pedicures, facials, massages and other rejuvenating treatments. Even if you are not sure where she would like to go to receive these treatments you can purchase a gift certificate from a service which works in conjunction with a number of spas around the country.

Another gift that many women will greatly appreciate is a gift certificate for a maid service. This is useful for wives who keep the house in great shape and still work 40 plus hours per week. Nothing says “I love you and appreciate all the work you’ve done” than a gift certificate to make her life easier. An even better idea is to make up a homemade coupon book with items such as cooking dinner or cleaning the bathroom. If your wife typically does these chores she can cash in one of her coupons for a night off from this chore if she is feeling tired.

We hope this helps you find something special and unique for the love of your life. At the end of the day, what matters most to your wife would be the thought you put into the gift.

What A Woman Wants

What A Woman Wants

If you are going to meet a lady abroad you’ve been communicating with for some time, you might consider bringing a few gifts over. Selecting the right gift is a challenge at first, but it’s not as scary as it seems.

Some Common Ideas

Gifts are symbols of appreciation and something to remember you by. They don’t need to be expensive. Good ideas for gifts might be some hand-made crafts, or something with cultural or personal meaning. This would be a good conversation starter so you could learn more about each other and your culture.

It is also common to give baseball hats or t-shirts. While these are practical souvenirs, remember to know her t-shirt/hat size to make the recipient feel like they are getting a personalized gift instead of an item fit-for-all.

 Doing Something More Memorable

If you want to score points for being thoughtful, find out what she likes or needs. For instance, if she’s learning English and loves movies, it might be a good idea to have a DVD collection of movies with subtitles in English.

When visiting her in her home, it is common to bring flowers and some sweets/cake with juice/wine. Again, it would be a good idea to ask about a person’s preferences before selecting something.

Almost every woman loves to look good. You could treat her to a session at a beauty parlor. Giving your girl an opportunity to get pampered will be a memorable event for her and she will love you for it. You could also bring her jewelry, accessories, bags, perfume that she might like.

Friendly Reminders

Whatever you are going to bring, make sure it is light and unbreakable to avoid the problem of luggage limits and handling. Do not make gifts a central part of your visit. Remember what’s more important is your relationship. Bring a few extra trinkets just in case you make some unexpected acquaintances and want to leave a souvenir for them.

Whatever gift you get her, remember: the best gift of all is the honest communication. So good luck and enjoy your trip!

Scrapbooking for Beginners

People from all walks of life have discovered the joys of scrapbooking or creating albums of their treasured photos and keepsakes. But with all the scrapbooking items available, how would you know where to start?

Well, the good news is that scrapbooking isn’t that hard. With some basic supplies and a little imagination, you don’t have to spend ridiculous amounts of money to create lovely scrapbooks that will be adored for years to come.

So read on and we’ll help you get started on scrapbooking!

What You Need

* An album – Scrapbooking albums come in all shapes and sizes. The most popular are 8 1/2″ x 11″ and 12″ x 12″. For beginners, it is often easier to start with these. You can buy albums at most craft supply stores if you don’t have a scrapbooking supply store nearby.

* Paper – Scrapbooking paper can be found in a variety of solid colors and patterns. This will be the basis for each page. You may also use scrapbooking paper for journaling and to create your own photo mats and embellishments.

* Cutting tools – A good pair of scissors is a good start but an Exacto knife might make photo cropping easier. If you’re no good at cutting straight lines, you might want to invest in a paper cutter. You might also want to try scissors with different patterns if you want to be creative.

* Adhesives – Glue sticks and double-sided tape are quite popular. You can also use rubber cement or glue dots for tougher applications.

* Photos – You can’t have a scrapbook without photos. You can use old photos for a nice, nostalgic album. A digital camera and photo printer for new photos can make scrapbooking easier, but they are not necessities.

When purchasing scrapbooking supplies, it’s important to make sure they are acid-free. This will keep them from harming your priceless photos.

Basic Techniques

*Matting Photos- The first step is to cut a square or rectangle that is about a half inch longer and wider than the photo you want to mat. Then glue the photo to the center. To make a photo really stand out, double mat it by cutting out a shape a half inch longer and wider than the first mat, and center the matted photo on it.

*Journaling- Simply write a note about the photos on a page, telling what was happening or sharing your thoughts on the subject. Use paper that coordinates with the background, and be sure to write with an acid-free pen.

*Borders-Adding borders to your pages gives them a finished look. You can make them out of strips of coordinating scrapbook paper. You don’t have to border all four sides. A strip along the top, side or bottom will do. For easy embellishing, use some stickers.

Now that you have the materials needed and you know some basic techniques, you can get started scrapbooking!

Gifts With A Heart

An example of such a gift are any St. Jude Wish Charms and accessories. By buying any of them, people can help children from communities around the world who are battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

Wish Charms symbolize unity and spirituality, shaped into a perfect circle. They offer eight meaningful, life-affirming expressions, elegantly engraved and accentuated by fine Austrian crystals. The charms look great looped through a leather cord or a silver chain as a necklace. They can be stacked, woven together into a choker or dangled from a silver bracelet.

By shopping through the Hope Catalog, you can show your support for St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital with trendy merchandise from Liz Claiborne, DKNY Jeans, Tommy Hilfiger, Nike and several others. Choose from apparel, jewelry, bags, home accessories and other St. Jude merchandise to help children from communities around the world who are battling cancer and other catastrophic diseases.

So in finding a gift for someone special, it might be a great idea to buy something that can help someone else. In a way, that one gift you are buying for someone also serves as a gift to someone in need.

Weddings are much-anticipated events. One big part of any wedding is the giving of wedding gifts to the bride and groom. There are thousands of gifts ideas that you can purchase online or on retail stores and if these don’t float your boat, you can go for personalized or customized gifts.

So what should you get the lucky couple? Here are some gift ideas that would surely be a hit:

Personalized Items

Personalize ordinary belongings by printing the couple’s picture on them. You can have it printed on pillows, blankets or bags. Print them on tapestry wall hangings and keep them as an heirloom. Colorful cotton threads can make your pictures come to life with its vivid colors similar to the photograph itself. You can also decide to print a message that is special for the couple. This is not only practical but also very thoughtful.

Photo Frames

What better gift than the gift of a memory beautifully captured? You can give them pictures in unique photo frames. You can add on sweet messages like “sweethearts forever” or “perfect couple” or sweet lines from songs or poems. You can choose from the different frames available like natural wood, quality plastic, or metal steel. Personal messages are mostly laser engraved or wood cutouts. The couple would love putting their favorite wedding photos to remind them of their special day.

Why not get them couple shirts that you can personalize? The most common of these shirts come with a big red heart and the name of the groom or bride. To make them even more special, you can also opt to print sweet messages on under wears and undershirts too.

Accessories

Women love accessories. Bracelets are perfect items to be personalized. You can opt to choose fancy gold, sterling silver or even 10 karat or 25 karat gold. This depends on your budget, of course. Some suggestions to be engraved are the date of their wedding day or the couples’ name. You can opt to personalize rings and necklaces as well.

Mugs

Mugs are very functional. If giving a present to the groom, customizing his beer mug or wine glass would surely be appreciated. Be sure to choose mugs that exude manly elegance. Black or brown mugs would definitely look nice and the personal message would be a real stand out.

Clocks

You can either choose to purchase a wall clock or personal watch. Either way, you can be assured that the recipient of the gift would find them very useful. Engraving one’s name on a metal steel sports watch is an eye catcher too. A pocket watch would equally be valued.

Looking for wedding gifts can be enjoyable. Personalizing your gifts would add a special touch to each present. No matter what the value of the gift is, remember that it is always the pure intention of giving that matters most.

The Rose: A Flower that Sells

The Rose: A Flower that Sells

Don’t be fooled by the simplicity of the rose. This elegant flower has a huge market primarily because of its popularity and the role it plays in romance.

Roses are everywhere in all shapes, sizes and colors because the rose sells. It sells inside, outside, and all year-round. It sells in rain, sleet, fog, snow, hot or cold weather. It sells on skin as tattoos, in jewelry, in decals, on clothing, in hair products, bath products, perfumes and deodorizers, on fabric, room decorations, at funerals, in weddings, at parties, carved into furniture, in paintings and drawings, and even in children’s color books.

Roses sell no matter what holiday it is and is valuable whether it is alive or dead. Dried roses can be used for products as well. Then you have the products that result from processing the rose like rose oils and rose waters.

Roses also sell in health stores. Rosehips are the ‘fruit’ that develops once the petals have fallen off the rose flower, about the size of a cherry, and similar in taste to a cranberry. Rose hips are high in Vitamin C.

Aside from Vitamin C, many recipes can be made using rosehips. A friendly reminder though: you must remove all seeds to avoid discomfort when digested. Once you’ve done that, you can experiment with rosehips and try to make syrup, applesauce, pudding, fruit leather, soup, bread, tea, pie, candy, and jelly. If you’re feeling more adventurous you can also try rose berries. Rose berries were eaten as dinner vegetables in World War II, to enhance good health.

The rose is a beautiful and special flower and there is no limit in the products that can be made out of it. The rose market is as big as it is now because as we have learned, it sells a lot and it seems like it will continue to sell for a long time.
